Pigments from the Florentine Codex

With this project it is my intention to better understand the work, skill, and traditions of the indigenous scribes who researched, wrote, and illustrated the codex under the guidance of the Spanish Franciscan friar Bernardino de Sahagún.

While the main work of this project is learning more about the scribes who wrote the codex and their context, I did want to attempt to recreate their work to some degree. This project is my first attempt at scribal work and making my own pigments.
